Theta: We're not dead yet!

Finally we see 1 piece of evidence from Theta that they're not dead yet and are actually doing something customer facing. The Theta Digital website has been completely redone, though there's precious little new useful content in it.

Even if they manage to revive the brand, I think any current Theta owner is going to be better served by selling their current units and getting other processors if BluRay is your thing. Whatever business Theta gets in their next product cycle will probably be built on entirely new customer base. I hope their ready to start from scratch.

  1. Hi Carl!

I really don't want to see Theta go down, but this is 2009 my friend. My authorized dealer hasn't had any good news for beleivers in a long time. Get with the times and post web updates frequently as opposed to leaving rumor mongers like me to speculate. Leaving it up to your dealer network at an age where everyone shops the web first is just not on.

Secondly, "nearing completion" on HDMI capable processors in May of 2009 is a difficult place to be in when many past owners who switched are going to be wondering if it's worth it to switch back. Forget the money, just the setup headaches.

The one saving grace of all of this right now may be that On-Demand is kicking BluRay's butt. That means that fewer people actually care about HD movie sound anymore.

Good luck to you guys, really! I would love to see Theta being talked about as standard bearers in the present tense!

    Nigel
